We have been focused on making SailSync more useful for coaches and sailors — less manual work, clearer feedback, and fewer steps between the water and the debrief. Here is what has changed.
We have dramatically expanded what is available for free. Every SailSync account now includes up to 3 boats per session, full race analysis with marks, and AI chats — available to everyone, no paid plan required. Whether you are a coach or a sailor, you can get started and actually learn from your data right away.
It is more generous and easier than ever to make use of your sailing data. If you have a phone or a GPS device, you can start today at no cost. Paid plans add more AI credits, storage, and capacity — but the core experience is free.
FLOAssist is coaching support that works on the water and after. We are building two capabilities that we think will change how coaches and sailors work with performance data:
Live on-the-water audio coaching. FLOAssist can provide real-time feedback while you sail — helping sailors think more about their decisions and performance during practice and racing, not just after.
Smarter post-session debriefs. FLOAssist works inside race replay as an interactive assistant so coaches can ask questions about specific legs, tacks, or decisions and get feedback in context as you playback a race or lineup. Instead of scrubbing through data and interpreting it yourself, FLOAssist surfaces what matters so you can focus on the coaching conversation, not the preparation.
Both modes tailor feedback to the boat class being sailed — a 420 session reads differently than a Laser session because the performance characteristics and coaching priorities are different.
FLOAssist (live assisted coaching) is currently in beta and we are looking for sailors and coaches who want early access. Whether you are interested in live on-the-water coaching, post-session debriefs, or both — fill out the form below and we will get you set up.

Race reports now include tack and gybe analysis charts. Coaches can see how each sailor executed maneuvers throughout the race — where speed was lost, where transitions were clean, and where there is room to improve. This gives debriefs a more structured starting point for boat-handling conversations.
Setting up and getting into SailSync is now simpler:
Sign in with Google, Strava, or Garmin. No separate account to create. If your sailors already use Strava or Garmin, they can sign in with one click.
Guided session creation. A new step-by-step flow walks coaches through creating a session — less guesswork, faster setup.
7-day free trial for all coach plans. Start with any plan and see the full product in a real coaching workflow before committing.
Several updates reduce the effort coaches need to put into setting up and reviewing race data:
Auto-detected start times. SailSync now suggests race start times from the data — no need to manually find and tag each one.
Auto-detected lineups. Competitive sailing segments are identified automatically, saving setup time for coaches running structured sessions.
OCS detection. The platform now flags on-course-side starts so coaches can review early crossing patterns with their sailors.
Course auto-detection. Course layout is estimated from track data, reducing the manual setup needed before analysis.
Wind estimation from event data. Wind bearing is now estimated and displayed with visual indicators, giving coaches better context for tactical review.
Report generation has been improved so the output is more reliable and useful:
Reports now generate in one click with a clear progress indicator
Race reports include optional heel and pitch columns for boats with that data
Leg-by-leg selection lets coaches choose exactly what goes into the report
SailSync now imports VTK files directly from Velocitek devices. If your sailors use a SpeedPuck or Shift, their data uploads into SailSync alongside everyone else's — no conversion steps, no extra tools. One more device that works out of the box.
For programs using RaceSense, imports now handle multi-day events and division names more reliably. If your club or program runs racing through RaceSense, session data flows into SailSync more consistently — reports from racing with less friction.
These updates are live now. If you are already using SailSync, you will see the changes the next time you log in. If you are new, the 7-day free trial is available on all coach plans — start with a real practice or regatta and see how the workflow fits your coaching.
